Lapras wasn't quite up to Bothing's strength, very few dogs are, but would match her to the second section easily breaking 17 at Angle Park. She had superior early pace and was a very keen chaser. Her fastest race win at Angle Park was 30.06, this was set in her maiden win when 19 1/2 months of age. She had 2 wins and 2 placings in her next 4 starts (a win and a placing coming in a heat and final of an aged classic), before falling, being dragged down from behind whilst crossing to the lead from the 8. She only had 5 more starts in the next 18 months for 2 wins, 2 4ths and a 5th. The 2 4ths were in Heats of Group races, (Adelaide Cup and Gawler Gold Cup) and was expected to be a 29.70 dog around Angle Park but never had the chance to shine.
