Betfair is $5, IAS usually have a $1 minimum but sometimes increase that during high traffic days ie. Spring Carnival. Other bookmakers I am not sure of.
I am just back on the punt after a hiatus for about 10 years, got married had kids etc. The options available today are mind-boggling. In the old days, you either took the tote odds, or went to the track when you would compare odds and the tote in the 35 minutes before a race. These days you have a lot more time and can get some huge value. I had $9 on Swiss Ace @ $65 in the Oakleigh Plate. Tote paid $37.60 and SP was $31. |

The bottom line is, if you want to make serious money, take it seriously.
Do the homework. You can take shortcuts, bludge on bits of detail, but it will all cost you money in the longrun. Have a consistent system. It doesn't matter if it is one that you follow in your head, on a formguide, or on a computer. Chopping and changing makes it impossible to see where you are heading. Which leads to: Keep records. Keeping records is vital to know exactly where you sit. If you have a consistent system, and keep detailed records, even a slightly quirky system can find patterns that will return dividends. If you arm yourself with these basics, you can then work your efforts towards where you should have the best chance of success, and then bet with confidence. |

Coops I don't think I ever got to ask you did you get on my tips for the Saturday at MV the other week when you said on the Friday night before that you had a debt to pay off? Becuse if you backed them all you would have been able to pay off a fair debt.

Hussler mate, I did back them and yes I won enough and more to pay my debt and I thankyou.
Mate, buddy, pal, can you give me some more as I need the dollars to back a dog at Nowra on Monday called Race For Grace. This dog on the 20th of december last year was so far in front of the field it would have been re-kenneled before the rest of the field finished, but unfortunately broke down badly half way up the home straight. I hope it's injury has come good as this dog really fly's. It's having it's first start since that inciedent. coops |
