Default Cathay pacific hong kong sprint

Apache Cat was not able to win Sunday's big sprint race in Hong Kong but there was still a very strong Australian flavour in the result. The winner Inspiration was ridden by Darren Beadman, trained by John Moore, son of the legendary George Moore, is by Flying Spur and is out of the Australian mare La Bamba who was bred by Mick Dittman. La Bamba is also the dam of listed winners Provence and Lucky Unicorn. The second horse Green Birdie is a former Australian galloper and of course then there was Apache Cat in 3rd place, only a half length away. I believe the winner of the sprint ever since it has been run, has been an Australian bred galloper. Not a bad effort. Go Australia!

Yes thanks for that mate, didnt actually know that, terrific result. I agree with Greg Eurell though about Apache Cat, the gelding is at that point now, although he's still a gun sprinter. I think they should give him a go or 2 out to the 1400 and see from there if he may even be looking for a mile, although you wouldnt think so...

Hussler, I must acknowledge to not being as aware as I should be with Apache's form history but I have always thought of him as a galloper who is very much suited beyond 1200. Anyway whatever is the case I hope he comes back at his top next campaign. I think he has been slightly below par (in the negative sense) this preparation. In the case of his first up run down the straight at Flemington I thought he looked heavy, too heavy (but what would I know however I did say this to my wife before the race) and in the other runs he found one or two just a bit too good on the day. How about that Takeover Target in Perth on Saturday. A gift race for him but what a great horse. Go Takeover, go Jay, go Joe!

Now I firmly believe in what i said looking at his run yesterday and finally it seems everyone else has cottoned on. Hussler similar story although he would have gone a lot closer with a better ride and an extra furlong. Looking forward to the 1200m Austrtalia Stakes day now.
