Darley Australia has confirmed Denman will be leaving Australia directly to be set for the July Cup at Newmarket later in the year.
He joins not only an exodus of Darley three year-olds from last season but adds to the list of spring three year-olds that have fallen by the wayside this season.
Manhattan Rain (retired), Starspangledbanner (now in Ireland with Aiden O’Brien), Trusting (injured), Onemorenomore (retired), Viking Legend (retired) and So You Think (put aside after some disappointing work) will not be seen in Australia either this season, or at all.
Wanted is also a query, although he may come to Sydney for one more start before a decision is made on a trip to Europe or immediate retirement.
Last season Darley transferred nearly all of their top tier three year-olds to campaign in the northern hemisphere which has to date met with mixed results.
It is likely Australian racing has seen the last of Denman, who will leave our shores having won nine of his 12 starts including the Group I Golden Rose.
