A Sydney jockey has been suspended for eight months after testing positive to a banned substance.
A urine sample given by Brett Poulus after riding in Rosehill barrier trials on March 17 revealed the presence of a banned substance, a Racing NSW inquiry heard.
Poulus, who only recently returned to the saddle after a long lay-off because of injury, pleaded guilty to having a banned substance in his system.
His suspension has been backdated to end on December 17 and if he undergoes professional counselling, the ban will be cut by two months.
