This is not the 70's, taking a racing greyhound "Roo Hunting" is a sure fire way to lose your license and also get plenty of bad publicity for the sport not to mention the issue of fences or other horrific injuries!! Seek advice from reputable experienced trainers and also realize that there is a certain percentage of dogs that can trial like trains but just won't go in a field!!! Maybe she will make a top Coursing bitch?? Patience is the key.

we sent her to taree for a couple of easier races she ran 22.50 in her trial and then when it came to the race she led by 5 and just stopped.

She isn't just field shy then!!! To be out in front by 5 lengths and stop only means one thing, she is not chasing!! There are too many unknown factors here to make a judgement , age?? temprament?? how did she break in?? training methods being used??. If you really believe that she is a quick dog(I know nothing about Taree) then I would not wait a minute longer and either get her re-educated by a reputable breaker or get her to a likewise trainer who then has the experience to make a informed assesment of her, good luck!!

Umm yes my above post should be is a she a mad ''on the lure'' not just chaser.
As Gippy has posted maybe re education. May i suggest Kilcoyne Kennels in Leppington NSW if you do try it. Had a breaker tell me my dog wouldnt chase a yard and was better off being potted. Slipped the dog with a a bitch that was about 20L off the pace... she beat him by 20L minimum. Sent him to Kilcoyne, my boy has had 4 starts 1-1-1 and a fall. He turned him around from this stupid idiotic non chasing dog to now because he was chasing better he seemed to mature up into a race dog much quicker. He isnt 2 until the middle of December. My boy jumps 'ok' but musters up quick and can take a hit now - far from when he usd to meow. |
