Hey Morgan, This is from the NSW GBOTA Website.
2008 John Stollery Christmas Gift – Condition Changes Deliver Exciting New Format The GBOTA Directors are delighted to announce an exciting new concept for the 2008 John Stollery Chistman Gift to be held at Wentworth Park. Originally this Group 3 Event over the 520 metres was programmed for the best 32 with heats on December 13 and final on December 20. The newly announced format will provide for the race to be open to the best 8 greyhounds nominated plus two (2) reserves under the GHRRA grading policy with a condition that all Group 1 winners nominated will be given preference. On Saturday December 13 two heats of four will be conducted with first and second to qualify for the final. Prizemoney for the heats will be $3000 first, $1000 second, $500 third and $500 also for fourth. The final on Saturday December 20 will carry prizemoney of $15,000 to the winner plus presentation rug and trophy while second will take home $3000, third $2000 and fourth $1000. Nominations close on the Tuesday December 9 at 10 am with the GHRRA graders. GBOTA Chairman Bill Mangafas is excited that this race will provide variety to the Group racing program at the Glebe headquarters and is confident the change will be well received. “I'm confident these new conditions will deliver some exciting racing, showcasing our top performers in a format where every greyhound gets it chance” Mr Mangafas commented. “It's an exiciting concept with fabulous prize money – trainers should make this one down in their calendar.” Mr Mangafas concluded. With the change the race now becomes “The 2008 Super 8 John Stolley Christmas Gift”. |

AND SO MISS IS CHRISTMAS It is fitting that group racing is signed off for the year at Wentworth Park with another bout between Miss Elly Mint and Wonderous in the final of the Group Three John Stollery Christmas Gift over 520 metres. Miss Elly Mint reached ten straight wins with her all the way performance in heat two tonight but it was Wonderous who was arguably more impressive as she nailed down Nimbastic to run the quickest time of the night, albeit only 0.01 seconds faster than Miss Elly Mint. The box draw was conducted on track only moments ago and it really has favoured both bitches that get the exact same boxes from which they won their heats. Group Three John Stollery Christmas Gift 520m $15,000 to the winner Saturday 20 December 2008 BOX ONE NIMBASTIC $7.00 Heat: 2nd running 30.01 seconds, beaten by Wonderous BOX THREE MISS ELLY MINT $1.70 Heat: 1st running 29.84 seconds, beating Boom Gate by 2.75 lengths BOX FIVE BOOM GATE $9.00 Heat: 2nd running 30.03 seconds, beaten by Miss Elly Mint BOX SEVEN WONDEROUS $2.20 Heat: 1st running 29.83 seconds, beating Nimbastic by 2.5 lengths BOX NINE MOUNTAIN OF LOVE $9.00 Heat: 3rd running 30.19 seconds, beaten by Miss Elly Mint and Boom Gate BOX TEN JAYDEN’S ROCKET $13.00 Heat: 3rd running 30.38 seconds, beaten by Wonderous and Nimbastic |
