UK Greyhound Racing
Other observations re UK greyhound racing when I was there, were the outside hare which we did have in Australia many decades ago (e.g.Wollongong, in the 1950s) AND the starting procedure. The dogs seemed to be in the boxes for an eternity as after they were placed in an official would casually wander across in front of the boxes, presumably check that none of them had turned, then casually walk to the rail side of the boxes, and wave a flag on a stick above head height. Finally the mechanical hare would be put into motion. What happens if one has turned. Do they take them all out. I suppose so or is it just the one and the others are in the boxes even longer. I suppose it's just different but I would prefer to go with "if a dog turns, you have to live with it for that event". The dog gets a ticket for at least a month. As would happen here, I think or has it altered slightly since I was training dogs.
