MISS HOT GOSSIP RETIRED
14 July, 2008.
SPRINT queen Miss Hot Gossip has been retired. Breeder, owner and trainer Dave Robartson made this decision today.
The Surf Lorian-Roxy Reason bitch split webbing in a trial last week and Robartson has decided not to persevere. "She did it a long time ago but we fixed it. Now it has opened up again and the decision was made to call it quits," said Robartson. He said he would not have been able to have her right for the heats of this Thursday night's Group 1 Winter Carnival Cup.
"I believe she will be due to come into season about September so she will have a bit of time to let down," he said. Robartson is keen to mate her to boom sire Where's Pedro. Flying sprinter El Galo is by Where's Pedro from Roxy Reason the dam of Miss Hot Gossip.
Miss Hot Gossip has been one of the country's star sprinters for the past two years. She retires with 35 wins, 19 of them at Albion Park. Other wins came at Sandown, Wentworth Park, Cannington, the Gold Coast and Ipswich.
She won the Group 1 Sandown Laurels, Group 2 WA Oaks, Group 3 WA Sprint Challenge and the Silver Dollars and Winged Runner Trophy at Albion Park.
She was runner-up in the Group 1 Winter Carnival Cup and third in the Group 2 Qld Futurity and Group 2 Peter Mosman Classic.
She was also a finalist in the Topgun, Perth Cup and Sapphire Classic all Group 1 races.
Her best time at Albion Park was 29.79.
Her final two wins were at that track in May in defeats of current sprint star Queen Lauryn.
