Honestly I was hoping for a local victory, you guys down there race for pretty ordinary prize money year round and to have most of your cups and this one head back north more often than not cannot be good for Tassie racing!! 75k is great prizemoney for the race but to only have won 1 out of the last 5 hurts! The Juvenile set up is great for young dogs and connections but how the hell a mixed grade 4/5 can only be worth and extra $15 to win has got me stuffed and a Invitation an extra $245!!!! Thats the top race of the night against sometimes first starters!!!!
My point being that it would have been great for that 75 grand to have been retained in Tassie(or atleast 2nd or 3rd $$), however the best dog won on the night and from what I saw most had no excuses!!

I would have liked it to gippy I had my quinella on Damek and decembrist, but it wasn't to be, just as long as they all get around safe, do u know in the last 5 years I think prize money has gone up 60 bucks, but yet week to week we bring in more in betting than the gallops or trots and they still get their 3 grand plus per win, when the seeding was done they had said that one mainland dog had won over 30 races with prize money over 100k fir us to do that we have to win 90+ it's a joke, and they say the same thing everytime we ask for more prize money, u have 3 meets a week add it up if itwas one meet with a 10 race card, apparently then we are on par!!

I think this is why a lot of your better dogs do come to the mainland!! A grade 5 is worth what, about $1200 at Hobart which is considered a Metro track and a G5 in the bush in Vic is worth $1050 and over $4000 in town(2nd is around the $1200 mark)!! I'm sure as hell your paying just as much or more for Petrol, Meat and Kibble etc and I'm also sure you betting turnover isn't that far off Vic tracks. Sounds like you are due for a payrise!!!!

At the moment we have 3 invitation dogs in our kennel I could send them to Vic and I am sure they would win one every 1-2 weeks between them and 50/50 with a trainer I would make more than what I do now and I wouldn't have to do anything!! Doesn't give u much if an incentive to stay here

well most of us in tassie would like a stake increase but thats not going to be coming in the next ? years so again most of us are happy with what weve got and like racing on our 3 tracks and having shit put on us from the mainland people who arent backwards in trying to use our grading system and then go back to wherever they live on the mainland cheers chub.
