31 July, 2009. CHAMPION Queensland bitch Queen Lauryn had to break the four-day old track record tonight to land the Group 3 Darwin Cup (537m). The daughter of Token Prince-Cheeky Sprite scored by three-quarters of a length over a brave Voodoo Prince with seven lengths to Kallan Bale in third in 31.22. Voodoo Prince had beaten the Queen in track record time to win their heat clash last Monday night. It was the fourth Group victory for the Hawkins Family raced and Tony Brett-trained bitch. She had already won the Group 1 Gold Cup at Albion Park and Sapphire Bracelet at Sandown, and the Group 2 Qld Futurity at Albion Park. It was the fifth track record for Queen Lauryn. |
