Penetrometer Readings?
Particularly at the melbourne metropolitan tracks, there seems to be a lot of variation in the way they are prepared.
Do you think penotrometer readings are something that the clubs would consider?
It just seems to me that in a sport where a tenth of a second means a lot, it is only fair on punters to give them a more precise reading of the track conditions. Particularly, as is often the case, when the inside and outside of the same track are prepared differently.
The stewards walk the track before each meeting. Would it be so much of an imposition to also perform a penotrometer meeting on the inside and outside of the track?
I feel that penotrometer readings might result in a more transparent process and instil a bit more confidence in punters.
As it stands, I think the track curators are at a huge advantage to influence the outcome of races based on knowledge that only they possess.
