2009 Sale Cup
Apologies if Dougie has already created a thread for the Sale Cup and I have missed it. I am looking forward to listening to Mantra Lad's heat at 7.42 pm. He has his favourite box (8). After his record smashing win last week, he deserves to be an odds on favourite for sure. Anything can happen but from the 8, I am expecting him to win and most likely win well. Heavens what did he run last week, 36.71 or similar, holy hell. When he is "on" Mantra is as good a middle distance dog as I have seen in 50 years of being a keen greyhound enthusiast. Vintage Octane who is a fair dog on his night could not get anywhere near breaking 37.0 last year when he won his heat and the final. I knew 37.0 could be broken for sure but 36.71 or whatever, well ..... Just realised I missed the first heat, I better not miss the next heat at 7.22 pm.

Bit of a upset in first heat with flash of light not handling first turn and getting squeezed early. Your right on his night mantra lad is near unbeatable over 600-650...can be a bit hot and cold so I tend to just let him run round without being on him...should win tonight although shadow boxer can be freaky on his night but is a maniac..can someone please explain how they let him even race the amount of times he has fought, played, run of track!! I still remember him winning a lowly race at ipswich given the 15 down back straight and mowing them down...I like next top model to win fianl...always puts itself in race

mantra lad has one major issue, he knows his dad is pure octane...enough said
he is possible the fastest greyhound in aus from 450-725 trips SOLO!!! id wxpect him to win tonight but i also took shadow boxer in the quaddie as he also has some flying solo times and with luck in running will always take beating just abit stiff i didnt get next top model beaten in the last, the 8 would of been a nice result in the second leg of quaddie |

Poor old Mantra won but went slow tonight, only running 37.03 2nd fastest ever run at Sale. The old record I think was 37.07. However, on the serious side, he did have his favourite box 8 tonight which he is unlikely to have in next week's final. He won't want to do anything wrong and get off the hare. Gee it is great prizemoney isn't it. I want to see him win, he might be a bit of a scamp but there are plenty of those and plenty a whole lot worse. I only wish Amity had still been around, racing that is.

he put in a couple of short ones coming to the turn tonight, for a fleeting second i thought shadow boxer was going to run him to a len but he took off again
cant wait to use him at stud, got the perfect bitch to put to him |

Thanks Dougie for posting the Sale Cup box draw. Mantra in the 4 box, well this makes it interestin, particularly with Arvo's Sphinx drawn outside him in the 5. From the racecall last Sunday, it sounded as though Arvo's went like a "scalded cat" early. I think I have the right dog. Nickg follows the dogs so much more studiously than me (I am an irregular casual observer) so I expect he will be able to provide some good advice about these dogs and the possible scenarios.

Only listening to radio but I am waiting in great anticipation for the call of the 2009 Sale Cup. I like Mantra as a dog, he is an exciting dog, it is always possible for him to do something special. If he leads then I suppose he wins, if he does not well ?????? I wish I was at Sale, would like to get there one day for the Cup. Only out fair. Mantra out 3 ls, Next Top Model 2nd, Next Top Model flew, Mantra just lasted but ran 36.89 which is not bad at all. What a great run by Next Top Model.
