Default Trial times

I am looking at buying an unraced pure octane dog whelped DEC 07, its trialled at Richmond in 22.95 and at Bulli in 22.99 and 26.98. What are these times like? and whats a good price for him?

Any help much appreciated

Those times are fair times at those tracks. You could pinch a win with those times now and again. Although they are reasonable time for the dog to win on country tracks.
price would be anything from $1500 to $2000 me thinks.

Ok they are asking 3,500 for him. I dont wanna bag the original trainer but i dont rate him really. If i gave him to a top trainer and he improved would he be any good?

No. If the dog has any ability beyond what it is doing now it would have to improve at least half a second more to be TAB class regardless who trained it.

Hey BryonBet, Yeah okay times for this dog that has not turned two yet and maybe $3.5K is a lot of money but if your happy with the dog and think the price is right buy it but make sure the dog 100% injury free. cheers Dougie

ok you say if you give him to a top trainer, judging by his times a top trainer wouldnt take him plain and simple mate.

haha not all dogs are the same, just cause he improved 1 dog over a second dosnt mean he will do the same with this dog, alot of things to look at with the dog who improved 1 second...fitness, condtion, age, injury and so on

if your buying him thinking your "top trainer" will improve him half a second to a full second you have rocks in your head...at 3.5k id save my money cause bein unraced at that price after the owner/trainer has put all the hard work it means one of 2 things, the dog is no good and there dodgy or there in the 2%of legit un-raced sales...

BUT i dont believe any unraced dog for sale is legit, after all the time and money if he had abilty you would think the owner/trainer would keep him atleast for his first win?? wouldnt you if he was yours?? he is priced at a level where you could buy a handy dog that is proven and currently racing, no superstar but somethink that you no chases and could have abit of fun with...

if i was to take a stab in the dark, being by pure octane this dog is for sale cause he has a vice...there skunks, even the best pure octanes have skunk in them...i call he dosent chase with other dogs i.e he goes ok solo but put him with others in a trial and he goes meow

if you want to buy him and dont like the advice given, get them to trial him infront of you and your trainer in a half field trial, no solo trial...you want to see him run with other dogs
