Default How Much and What to Feed

I have 2 greyhounds that are just pets, they have never raced. They are brother and sister and are now 18mo. I feed them both a mixture of chicken mince from Leonards, cooked and mixed with dry food, noodles and frozen vegies. They both like it but i am not sure how much to give them. At the moment the boy, the larger of the 2 who is about 30kg, is getting about 900g twice a day and the girl, who is about 23kg is getting about 700g twice a day. Neither one likes dry food and will pick it out of their food, nor do they like the pigs ears or smoked roo tails. I am just not sure if i am overfeeding them as all the articles i read say they dont eat much and to me nearly 2kg a day is alot! Also what all purpose dry food do you suggest as they dont like Supercoat which was suggested to me when they were young.
Thank you.

Cut all what you are giving them now down to half. You will kill them giving them that much.

Thank you for the advice. Should i perhaps stop mixing the dry food in with the rest of the food and just mix the dry as dry with the rest at meal time? Also which brand of dry would you suggest?

Give them a cup of milk with a cup of dry food in it for breakfast. Then for dinner 500grams of meat and a cup of dry food with a cup of water. A bit of fat twice a week will do them the world of good during the winter months.
Thas it no more.

Coops is right Bella, cut their food in half especially if they are only couch potato's and not race dogs!! You don't have to feed the kibble every day either, 2 weetbix or 2 slices of toast or some boiled rice or pasta can be a substitute for kibble!! I have a retired bitch at home and she eats leftovers some nights ie Fish, stews, lasagna, aswell as eggs, bannanas, milk!! A bit of codliver oil will give them a nice shiney coat also!!

in general the "retired" greyhound should have the last 2 or 3 ribs slightly visible, this is a general concencus (correct me if im wrong), you dont have to feed dry food, but if you want to the more expensive the better, brown bread, weet bix, and other forms of cereal will supliment dry food, and dont forget a few veges in the meat too they will probably spit them out if they are not used to veges but they will get used to them. the smaller you can mince them the better. Dont forget to walk them too otherwise you will end up with fatty boom ba greyhounds
