Default Horsham Cup Heats

Jammed packed racing tonight at Horsham, with half the final of the Australian Cup field competing in the heats tonight, and would you believe, Arsonist, who has been blessed with loads of talent and a bucket load of perfect box draws, has come up with the easiest of the heats in my opinion.

Starting from the top, I will give a brief rundown of each heat.

Heat 1

The class factor of the race is obviously Birthday Boy who has a tendency to come out running and score in blistering time or dwell at the start and find all the trouble under the sun. The box draw has made things swing in his favour as all the real genuine speed is drawn outwide, with the slow railing dogs in 5 and 6, Our Toyman and Mopar Bale. This should give Birthday Boy and easy run and with the wide Horsham track he should be pelting home at the end. The minor's are a bit of a lottery. The inside 3 should battle for supremacy early and possibly Reekay Rip will hold this lead, so throw her in for second. Dyna Obelia is finding good form and has to be respected, while the talented Our Toyman will definetly be giving them a start but look for it to be rattling home at the business end.

Birthday Boy, Reekay Rip, Dyna Obelia, Our Toyman

Heat 2

The explosive Gardam Prince has looked ultra impressive in Tasmania of late, scooping the Launceston and Devonport double. Lakeland Bale is as reliable as they come early, so he will utilise the red draw but class wise and time wise, he isnt up the likes of GP or Papa Cool. Papa Cool has been racing in sensational form running a nice 5.13 to the first marker when leading all the way at Sandown. Viva Las Vegas loves wide draws, so can never be discounted.

Heat 3

Group 1 winner and runner-up in his past 4 starts, Enry Walt will get fully tested this week with an awkward draw and speed all around it. Being gifted with runs in transit of late, this dog will bomb the start and find it hard to make ground from the 5. Hot price is a lightening bolt over the first 100m and can establish a lead from any box. Query is definitely the long straight at Horsham and he will need to lead by 3 or 4 to hold on. Atomic Voodoo is an underrated sprinter who is classy and should utilise his inside box well and run a big race. Allen Zander is boxed to perfection in the pink and he will stay out of trouble if there is any. He will be giving them a start but will be charging late. Same can be said about Enry Walt. Will probably only get warm up the straight.

Hot Price, Atomic Voodoo, Allen Zander, Enry Walt

Heat 4

Cosmic Rumble is one of the best dogs in the land and he is clearly the one to beat. Huge motor, which will suit the big track at Horsham and has recorded an ultra slick 27.10 Horsham and 25.17 Ballarat. Is a query at box rise, but is just all pure class. Track Specialist, Zambre Arandt loves an inside draw and he will be there for a very very long way. Has broken the magical 27 second barrier previously. Cohen Bale is an up and coming youngster who comes from the powerful Bates kennel so he cannot be discounted here. Same as Best has lots of early dash but will be found out late.

Heat 5

Arsonist form is deceiving. Yes, 4 from 4. Yes, lead all the way in all 4 runs. Yes, clocked 29.78 around Sandown. He has been virtually solo trialling though. There is no way, he is going to get things all his own way tonight. Admiral Bale returned to the winners list recently with a super 25.73 win at Geelong over the 457 and Nelly Bale has been beginning faultlessly of late, albeit over the staying caper. She is versatile and can lead all of the way here, as she did clock a slick 30.01 Meadows win recently. Boozeroo is out of form of lately, but this bitch can only improve and Horsham is a track I think she can in. Vintage Octane is the classiest runner in the field, but he may find the trip too short first up from a spell and Allen Ulrick is a notorious strong runner so he cannot be discounted from the pink. Bomber Blue Boy's form is supreme in as hard class as this and he has not missed a top 2 finish in his last 5 starts but on time form he looks a little lacking. This race is by far the hardest of the night and I can go a million ways and still be

My only notion I am confident on, is that Arsonist will taste the sweet taste of defeat tonight.

Boozeroo, Nelly Bale, Bomber Blue Boy, Vintage Octane

Heat 5

Another awesome race with loads of talent. Gioves Thunder has been beginning great of late and he is putting his hand up as a likely leader. The most promising dog in the race, Shredded Cheese continues to draw awkward boxes and he has been very hit and miss of late, so a lot will be based around how this dog begins. Taipan Bale is one of the hardest chasing dogs in the land but I think he is coming close to the end of his tether. Good Riddance has been beginning greatly in Adelaide of late but is up severely in class. Chunka Change form on paper is much better than suggest and he looks suited to 480m at Horsham.

I am quietly confident of a minor blowout in Gioves Thunder.

Gioves Thunder, Shredded Cheese, Taipan Bale, Chunka Change

Heat 6

Galba Jack is the class factor on the race and with his faultless beginnings, you just have to put him on top. Unknown NSW youngster Pulp has recorded some sensational Bulli wins, so he is a query runner. Ned's Pedro and Arvo's Chill are both running well, without being sensational. They should fill the minor's

Any scratchings later, I will substitute dogs for today.

Happy Punting!!

I reckon you would take some bets, I have it rated as a $2.50 chance, but thats just my opinion. Isnt it a great time of year, have these races on a wednesday night and then the fields on sat night at cannington are fantastic!! Throw in the Richmond derby heats friday.
