Vacination Requirments
I have recently aquired a 22 month old dog that has been broken in but not yet named.
I have the registration papers wich state he is a bond x fortified belle I am wanting to race him so i no i need vaciens up to date, only thing is the previous owner did not pass on any vacine papers. He stated all vaciens upto the break in has been completed but i will need the last one b4 he can race. My question is...... Is this all i need to start racing him ( one last needle i think the c3 is the name) any info would be helpful Chers Sean |

And there is one more thing you will need to do once you get the registration paper back, you won't be able to race him until you take him to a marking steward to have him i.d the dog before he can be given his 'weight card'.
You can do that at most tracks, if you ask in advance, most stewards can do the job but usually you will need to be there at the track at least one hour before kenneling so as not to take the steward's time away from his official raceday duties. |

No worries ;-)
Good luck with your new dog! P.S I take it you mean the dog has already been marked by a steward on the back of the paper? You still will need to do it again after the name comes back, as the papers will come without a weight card. You need to get a weight card before you can race him, and that means taking him to a steward again to be i.d'ed, then he/she will issue you a weight card with the dog's racing name on it. |

um im not sure.......... i have his rego papers that says he is out of bond and fortified belle his age and so on.......... i need to put in my name selections thats all i can tell you for now.

Hi,
You take the naming paper to the vet to get the vaccination and signature. If the dog has already been marked on the back of the form (ie drawing already made on the picture of greyhound) by a "marking official", then that's all you need to do, mail the papers to GRNSW. It'll take a couple weeks to a few weeks for the name to be selected and then the official registration paper will then be processed and mailed back to you. The dog is now officially named. But the paper won't come with a weight card, and you need one to be able to race the dog. So you check with a steward at your closest racetrack, find out if there is a steward who has some spare weight cards and can do the job. And once they issue you with a weight card, your dog is ready to nominate! It didn't used to be that way previously, weight cards always came with the registration papers but with the new rule changes and all that, they've recently bought in the rule (I think it was 1 or 2 years ago?) that says the dog has to be identified THREE TIMES... once at earbranding, once to get the naming done and the final time after it's been named. Bit silly isn't it! |

thanks again.
i think i have this right but will just ask incase. 1. dog needs to be vacinated and ear branded up to the age of 12 months ( or in this case ready to race) also registerd (as i have registration papers at home that need to be filled out for naming). 2. get dogs final c3 shot so that he is able to race 3. find steard to mark out the papers on the dog after i have his race name back. |

Okay bit of correction here ;-)
The dog would have been earbranded already before the age of 12 weeks anyway, to be able to get registered in the first place, so that's not a problem for you ;-) 1.) Dog needs to be vaccinated with a Booster shot (that's what we trainers call it when we take them to the vet lol) after the age of 12 months (no earlier) AND be marked by a Marking Official (who usually only will do it by appointment only and at certain places, so usually the trainer has to ring GRNSW to find out where is the closest place the marking official will go to) 2. Send naming paper away to GRNSW 3. When you get the naming paper back, arrange to see a steward at a racetrack for a weight card to be issued. 4. YOU'RE READY TO NOMINATE! Hope this makes things a bit clearer ;-) |
