At least people are willing to help you because of your attitude, most newcomers to the sport really stuff things up for themselves by acting arrogant and very touchy.

So you are doing the right thing, keeping your ears and eyes open and willing to learn.

Oh and don't forget,loads of patience is a big requirement when owning/or training greyhounds! lol Some people may go years and through many dogs before they get a winner.

I was very lucky lol my parents and uncle were trainers, so I learnt a lot training my first greyhound at the age of 16 years old, while still living with mum and dad. I remember my first dog very fondly, he was an ex Victorian non chaser world's slowest dog with many starts and only one win up the straight at Wentworth in Victoria. A local trainer was going to shoot him but decided he might be a good dog for me to learn on, at least that way I couldn't ruin a potentially good dog with my learning mistakes lol
Anyway the dog ended up winning a local country race! and running third in a trophy final for me!!
Didn't take long for me to get my first winner after getting my owner/trainer's licence too.

that's an awsome story about your first dog..... i to just got given a closing argumen x mrs bouvier dog that is not a keen chaser hopefully this new breaker we are going to can get him running. i can only wait and see. i never want them to get a bullet so if h is no good for me i will offer him free to good home as i got him this way.

my second dog that i have is out of bond x fortified belle so should be good he is a big dog and really keen to go but apparently he is slow...lol... o well i hope ge chases i will be raped with that just watching him run will be cool.
