yes a win is a win regardless of time and a first win is possible the best of them all i remember seeing this dog at his first quali, if my memory is correct darren had another in the qualis which people found strange as he dosent go qualis very often, i think the dog was okeonekobe or something similar yes mate i have been following them for awhile cheers |
Ctb and mpr, don't get too precious about your dog!! if your expecting some pats on the back and comments on how good your dog is then you have probably come to the wrong place!! This site forever has people pumping up their own wheels and promoting their syndicates and it has run a bit thin over time!! Nick and Poizon are just calling it as they see it and lets face it they are not far off the mark!! The dog would have to improve around 12-16L to be a handy dog around S'dwn and the fact he can run a quick 300m or trial whatever solo means shit when it comes to racing!! This is NOT putting the dog down its just calling it as I see it, they can only go as well as their ability allows them to. I hope he wins more races for you.
|
lol. Sorry for opening up a can of worms, and I would agree if Darren had it all, he must have some form of ability, not to the mention the fact it never been sent out double figures in around 15 starts. The fact of the matter is, it has had numerous chances in disgustingly weak fields. How do I know? I have seen every start it has raced. Not to mention, I have backed it alot due to the above two facts I stated.
When it clocks its first win in a sub-par field in 30.81 on a NEW surface, which means if that was on the old it would of been around 31.10, some slight questions need to be raised. As I also stated earlier, I do hope it goes on with it now that it has had a taste of success, and If it can run what u said at Shep, it will win a few Grade 5's here and there, which will be a thrill/profitable for connections. With regards to dogs I have ownership/training with is just a litter that my old man and I whelped. Darling Desi as people know on this site is nothing special at all, after winning on debut at Warragul in 24.38, she got the shit knocked out of her at a trial and has never been the same again but she keeps trying and will win the odd grade 5 race or up the straight at Warragul. However, I know she is no star, but its nice to see her going around and trying hard. Again, GL to the dog. It may go on from here and put it all together, I just hope that expectations are not too high and that it was I pointing out because that can lead to possible dissappointment, but also possibly jubilation :) |

Gippy, thanks for your response!! Learn to read mate..... We never said the dog was a superstar, let alone any good! We were just happy to see him get a win on the board!! The main reason for posting a reply anyway was to try and get more people involved in this wonderful sport and feel the thrill of having a dog race...... Not to sell anything or state how good we are!!!! So, if you like.... Keep having your say!!! We're happy with him so far, that's all that matters! |

Gippy you have just come on to be a smart arse, and i respect nick and poizun because at least they have treated us with some respect, everyone has a right to an opinion, but we dont have to put up with smart arses so get a life, and for the dog at no stage did i say the dog was a superstar we were just happy he had a win because he does have a little ability Once again he is no superstar but he tries.

Well done on Rambo's win, glad to see him finally get up.
Darren got him cause he broke in really fast at glengarry. He just doesnt have that brilliant early pace, nor the stamina at the end of a 500m race but when left alone he can run a decent time, good enough to pick up some wins anyways if left alone early. All the best with Rambo hope he keeps on his winning way. |
G'day Chook,
How ya going? So you know quite a bit about Rambo by the sounds of it??? He's a beautiful dog, great temperament too! You must have been involved with Rambo before we got a hold of him?? Were you a previous owner??? Do you know what time he broke in at Glengarry?? You would also be surprised to know, although he missed the kick badly last start, his first sections are quite good! Be great to hear back from you regarding Rambo! Cheers Chook! |
I knew Rambo before he broke in. He used to wear this poofy pink collar so i called him a girl for so long teasing him lol, being a only a ''little'' man didnt helpas he looked like a bitch lol, (Sorry Rambo). Was aways a very nice dog, as ou say a great temperament.
He broke in 18.2 at Glengarry but i cant remember his run home. I was stoked when he got Monaro as his name cause theyre one of my fave cars. I never dealt with his owner (at the time) only the person who had him as i helped out on the farm but i loved visiting all the dogs and spoiling them rotten... still do. Kept a close eye on him when DMac had him but hard to keep up with dogs these days with so many of my own. Hope he keeps on winning for yas. |

I wonder how much I would get for a giveaway in a syndicate. probably the same as anydog I suppose.
I have got nothing against syndicate dogs. It's a good thing for the industry. But I would like to know how half a dozen share holders can make a quid having spent squillions of dollars for their share. Does anyone know of any syndicate dog with half a dozen share holders having won anything above their purchase price and sundries? coops |
Tristar,
If you can find a dog that Darren McDonald has and wants to sell for $200 bucks, i'll have ten!! You've obviously got no idea about greyhounds!! Have you got any yourself??? With comments like that, I doubt it!! |
Coops, how ya going?
As far as a syndicate goes, all shareholders are informed that their involvement is primarily for entertainment value! Any prizemonies earned are a bonus!! Most syndicate groups will state this on their web page or contract! After reading that, you may think it's a waste of money! But if your dog gets a win, the feeling is unreal!! Worth the investment really! |
Oh mate don't get me wrong. It's just that people think that they can make a quid by having a share of a syndicate dog with more than a couple of share holders.
but if they are in it because they can have some fun then that got to be a good thing. I know the feeling when my dog wins and I would like to see those syndicate people have the same feeling. Like I said before I have nothing against syndicate dogs they are a good thing for the Industry. What I would like to see is, a couple of share holders for a couple of dogs as a syndicate be encouraged by the syndicate people. coops |
Coops,
Agree with you there! Problem is, some people can't afford to buy into a chunk of a share! In most of the syndicates I've been in, whatever prize monies the syndicate won, we'd pool it together and buy another dog. Whether you own a 20% share or 5% share, you still own the dog! Just isn't as financial rewarding! |
Tristar,
Don't give up your day job giving everyone tips.. Your supposed to give winners.... :) |
Your not very good at tipping Tristar are you?
Is there anything else you are good at? coops |

hot puzzle well and truly won well above her purchase price and sundries |
Nick, I didn't know that Hot Puzzel was a syndicate dog! Well there you go people, you can be lucky and get a good one.
Ok lads, get into it, what ya waiting for? coops |
Coops, I was part of a syndicate that outlayed $500 for 2 pups and one of them went on to win approx 75-80k!! Not bad for a $250 pup!!!! But I reckon you need just as much luck in picking the right people to be in a syndicate with as picking the right dog!!!
|
I have to agree with you on that one Gippy!
But what's the point in syndicating a 'crap' drop anyway??? All you do is lose your reputation and future syndicate opportunities. Yeah, you could syndicate a crap dog and make a quick buck, but that would probably be the last buck you make in the industry!! I'm in a couple of syndicates at the moment and all pups are very well bred! You also have to remember, most people who join a syndicate have some idea of greyhound racing! If you go in blind, well, your asking for trouble! :D |
I see all the bad mouthing of Droopy's Monaro has come to a halt after his last few starts.....
I hope he keeps going and sticks it right up ya's!!!! You know who ya's are!!! Egg on ya face??? :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D |
Good luck on Saturday night at the Meadows, drawn well and should be right in it!!! Obviously likes the track after that quick short trial!!!
|
Go Rambo, glad he is getting some nice form under his belt. Go little man.
