Big Daddy Cool.

Biased opinion of course as my bitch has thrown a good litter to him, and is being inseminate tomorrow with a repeat mating.

He is well bred, and is throwing many good pups... and many with ability.

Totally agree for a proven sire i think Big daddy cool is one of the best been throwing some very smart litters and continues to produce the goods.

I was speaking to a couple of breeding trainers last night at Richmond and they tell me that it is common that bitches are inseminated these days and not done the natural way. Can anyone shed some light on this as to why?

Some stud dogs (this can differ) when theyre drawn may throw enough semen to serve anything from 1-10 bitches (some may throw enough for more but i know a dog with enough for 10)
For a $1,000 sire, if they go natural they could have had an extra 9 straws sold aka extra $9,000

But there can be many other reasons too.... ill find those out when i get my own stud dog hehe :D  ima dreaming

The Chook is on the money. Very little wastage and it also makes the sires stud life last longer. The more semen available as straws the more $$$ the stud master can make. The sire also now has an oppurtunity to enter overseas markets with the sale of frozen semen. Today you can pick what ever sire you like anywhere in the world and you can access his genes via frozen semen.

Once you have the semen. It then becomes the problem of the vet and the owner of the bitch or the breeder as to what happens as far as having pups is concerned.

Also the sire is not put at risk of catching any sexually transmitted deseases via insemination.
