Trainers Fees

Hello everyone, could anyone assist?

What is a general guide to racehorse trainers fees and additionals such as shoeing, track fees etc. Also any recommendations re personal experiences would be most welcome.

Many thanks in advance.

Best

To many dollars Biff mate. Get a greyhound. Heaps cheaper.

Well things like 'shoeig' require farriers which the trainer sorts out and they will just give you a monthly/weekly/daily fee for everything included - the additionals all come under one bill. I've heard good things about John McArdle at Mornington from friends that have horses with him and I personally love the way he goes about it (just my opinion.)

Just remember that there are 2 givens in racehorse ownership, and bills are one ;)

Good luck mate.

Thanks Hustler, all opinions taken onboard. Have raced a few previous so know which end kicks! Been away from the game for some years though and thought I would test the water. Hate to ring a trainer cold and ask him what he charges...tyre kickers everywhere and if it was me...spose I'd be a bit p----d off. Just hoping someone will give me a heads up to what some of the better trainers charge...I see Gay and Bart don't hide, and tell you on their websites...Gay is actually very resonable..Bart at $4000 per month is up there? but you get what you pay for one suspects. Thanks again and I'll stay tuned.

Gee wiz Biff mate. That $4000 will get you a good greyhound and you'll get someone to train it for you for and the trainer only wants 50% of the prize money. How cool is that?

They were the good old days mate, and yes I remember those dogs you have mentioned.

I have only one dog at the moment. Although he is not a city class dog, I'm having a great time with him and he don't cost me much. He's won a few for me and I'm happy about that.

we've got two pacers at home and they cost a fortune and they have'nt even had a race yet. Ian Wilson trains them and Jim Douglass will drive them. They are hear spelling at the moment, then hopefully will go back and have a race.

We have a Clydesdale stud and looking after 15 of those keeps you quite busy. I have an hour to spare per day and it leaves me enough time to train me dog.
