AJC Derby Day
 

Not much has been said on here about the big day this Saturday at Randwick for AJC Derby day. So here’s a couple of early selections to watch.

SR2 #8 Target – I have followed this horse since his debut and he’s a smart galloper, having first go Sydney way of going but should go very well

SR4 #2 Over The Wicket – drops back to own age here after a nice run in good company and gets in well at the weights

SR5 #5 Divine Rebel – is the horse on the way up and she’ll be too good for these

SR7 #4 Sousa – I backed him to win this race a few weeks ago at $11 :) and he’s still the one to beat

I’d like to hear from anyone else who has some early thoughts on AJC Derby day.

Going to be a great race, similar to the slipper there are so many horses that can win this.

I never like taking favourites on the big races so ive gone with

HARRIS TWEED

ROCK KINGDOM

They both have the class and form to win this race.

RANDWICK RACE 5

DIVINE REBEL - should outclass this field.

Not sure if I'll back anything in the derby but I like Rock Kingdom - had Williams been on it last time he would have won; he's a greta jockey in the close ones and much better than Nash Rawiller especially, his ride on RK when a close 3rd last time was shit. Gai's never won this race but she's very confident he'll be the fittest horse in the race and that he'll relish the 2400m. For some reason as stupid as it might sound I just cant dismiss Bufett...

Thought IF, which I don't think is a very big if given this horse is so consistent, Belong to Many runs to her best she would kill these. Very honest horse so I think a good bet.

In R4 we have a very open one, the fav is around $6. I'm liking Orca at $7.

If Orca wins, back Joe Blow in R5, although I reckon theres no reason not to back Enzedex Eagle. Common objective worked hard early to lead when just beaten by Enzedex last time, he gets barrier 1 here and 1kg better off than Enzedex since last time so that wont be no spending pennies early if he jumps ok from that gate.

R8 get on Gamble Me EW, thought its win last time was excellent, although this is another very open affiar. If I'm in the green by that time of the day I'll certainly be on!

It was a good day for me won on 6 of 8 races, only ones i didnt get was race 2 which i had Target and race 7 the cup which i put on only a small trifecta.
