True Morgan but from what I've heard and people I've spoken to, who wants to wait around 15 minutes after the last? Give the dog a drink and let them go home. It's no different sitting in a car on the way home to on the track except you're 15 minutes ahead!

I see it being a good thing for races during the day as we are coming into summer and very hot weather a dog finishing a race then being placed into a trailer that has been sitting in the sun all day could cause risk for the dog/dogs. |
Personally, I would like my dog kennelled for 15 minutes after the race so he can settle down. As for the trialling bit, I think you have to just use your common sense in making sure your dog is comfortable before putting it in the vehicle and hopefully the air conditioner is on when it's a hot day and the dog gets plenty of air.

Guys the main pint of this new rule taht everyone is finding stupid is you CAN'T kennel your dog with water. So for example we have a dog with one of my trainers who simply will NOT drink water from a hose. So let's say he races in the last then comes back in 40 degree heat of the afternoon and we have to re-kennel him without him being allowed water!
What is the point of re-kennelling the dog if he isn't being swabbed? The dog could quite simply end up in a very distressed state over such a "useless" new rule. If you think it's good go ask your dog that doesn't drink from a hose how he/she feels after 15-20 minutes! It's a joke is it not? |
