Octonal**
Will be back later in the week to give you a run down of this extra good Western Australian Trained dog who seems to have more than his fare share of talent.
|
Cannington Saturday May 31
Not even turned Two yet Octanol went into the Derby series having had only the two race starts and the Brindle son of Pure Octane ran out of his skin when second behind Perth Cup winner Size Can Matter in his heat and I thought that performance would be hard to top but his effort last night to take the Derby coming from so far of the pace and having to chase down both Size Can Matter and Knocka Norris ahead of him and then to to break the track record to boot was outstanding.Well done to Owner Trainer David Hobby and all involved and a special thanks also to our Racing forum regular God Father who gave us the heads up on him last week.Hope you got plenty of him last night mate.Good run also by Bear Cat who as he had done last week railed through on the first turn to lead only to secumb to the fast finishing Octanol in the home straight.Size Can Matter who chased Bear Cat throughout finished third some four Lengths from the winner.Knocka Norris had raced in third for most the trip before finishing fourth. I personally would have never back it too many seasoned dogs in that race. But boy can that David Hobby train a dog. |
Sorry i couldnt get back.
Busy getting my kennels running. Great bloke Dave. Taught the God Father 50% of what he knows;) |
Nice win for the new racer.
Whens he racing next? Might put a few dollars on him, seems to be very smart. |

He then went on to win the Sprint championship that year after going into the WA DERBY with 10 wins from 11 starts i think. Oci or AKA Peppi had only 4:eek: He should be back in about 4 weeks:cool: |
Well done DAVE .. WELL DONEEEEEEE
gUESS you know the dog now members LOL LOL |
Peppe (Octonal) is staying here in NSW with us. Adele, David's 16yr old daughter, flew over with him and has been looking after him while in NSW. She was over the moon after his fab win last Saturday. She has him on his toes and after a run up the straight this finishes his preparation for the final. She has done a wonderful job with and he certainly looks the goods this Saturday.
GO PEPPE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Jenny and Sam Sultana. |
good work with Octonal guys, Im cheering for him in the final.
good to have you on the forum aswell guys :) |

send adel our best wishes from paul and shannon and shantyl |
Hi adel,

Tell shandi Adele is booked to come home on Monday evening, although I must say if Peppe wins that could be in doubt!!!!!!! One thing for sure, if i was a betting person, i would bet my last dolllar that she will have an excess baggage bill with her suitcase at the airport as she really loves her shopping. As a matter of fact thats where she is at the moment...........shopping........and she is in good company with my two daughters Michelle and Kristy who also love to shop. Win, lose, or draw tonight, she has done a wonderful job with Peppe whilst here, and I'm sure David is very proud of her, and will have no hesitation in sending her interstate with him in the future. I was thinking the other day that with peppe in the kennels next to Mandagery Man, it is a rare occurance that you have two W.A. Derby winners kennelled together. Anyway, I hope you all watch the race tonight and cheer Peppe home as I know all of W.A will be. And then party time big time...................... Jenny. |
You did a great job Girl,
Im sure that Dad is over the moon with your job even if hes not guna tell ya him self:rolleyes: Theres also 1 other person who would of being with you every step off the way and im sure she was cheering you on as well. Your a true credit girl and did WHISPERING PALMS proud. Now get ya butt home as i know you are baddly missed. By the way whats this i hear about your shopping spree at the markets:p buy paulie something:( |
Sorry how rude ,
nice to meet you Mrs S & Dodger |
How about Octanol's full brother Vintage Octane running 29.59 at his first run at Sandown. Their dam My Girl Georgina is proving to be a great producer having also produced Winoki, Lochinui & potential superstar but he broke down Mister Twink.
|
Had a bet on octanal last night at the meadows although he got a bit of a hit on the turn unfortunetly. Great dog though.

Watched the race, didn't have a punt. Good smart win. Was 4th on the home turn. Waited for the run on the rails. Drove through and raced away!
|
Great win by Octanal should have had a bet on him.
|
Nice strong win last Saturday. It would be great to see him get out of a box and lead. Then you'd see what potential this dog has against the clock.
Good luck David and Adele for the final. Might see you in Sydney again at the end of the month. Jenny xxxxxxxxxxxxxx |
No doubt hes drawn the wrong side of the track Dodger.
Lasdt dog who had the same feats and went on to win the sprint was Prince of Tigers who went into this race with about 18 runs under his belt. |
30.17 and still improvment,
