Quantity of Meat

how much beef to a greyhound weight of 35 kg? Per meal and every day?

ByronBet 10-20-2009 04:29 PM

There are no hard and fast rules. All greyhounds are different, you feed them the amount depending on how hard you work them. If they are resting you feed them less and if in hard work feed them more.

I have four dogs each weighing 28.6kg, 33.2kg, 34.6kg and 32.8kg. The first dog puts on weight easily so he is fed 520gms meat and maintains his weight no problems. The 33.2kg dog has a higher metabolic rate so therefore burns fat a lot quicker, he gets 600gms meat. The 34.6kg dog loses weight easily so he gets 650gms meat. The 32.8kg dog puts on too much weight too quickly so he gets 500gms meat.

When I step them up in distance and therefore they get more hard work in, their meat will increase.

shhh he did say he feeds them horse meat aswell, thats when i relised he isnt a greyhound trainers asshole..cause only the cheapest tightest un educated people feed horse meat knowing its horse meat

Coops, it of course depends on what else is being fed with the beef BUT overall I say "well said", I have to admit to being rather surprised (to say the least) when I saw the advice of "a pound" for a 35kg dog (the RSPCA should be called in). A pound of beef supplemented by 4 ozs of dry kibble (evening meal) would generally be sufficient for an extremely small bitch (yeh like a whippet), not a 35kg dog. The advice from Lily... and Nick is pretty good.

A pound of meat i said. Then mix in a pound of chicken with it, then your kibble, water etc....

Nickg your obviously a very naive uneducated sh!thouse trainer otherwise you would know horse meat is just as good if not better than beef. Learn the facts before shooting your mouth off. Your a know body trainer! Wait til you get in with the big boys of McDonald, Bate, Thompson then try feeding me your BS :)

35kg is about 77lb i think
for that i would be giving 1 and half pound of beef a day
and total weight of filled pan would be 3.5lb for a dog that big at least
all my dog get 1.5lb of either beef/chicken/tripe each day with veg kibble added to bring it up to weight
bitches get just over the 3 lb

as for horse meat nothing wrong with it at all
in fact it use to be eaten by humans and still is in many parts of the world
as for the facts

Horse meat contains 25% less fat, nearly 20% less sodium, double the iron and less cholesterol than high quality beef cuts, and when compared to ground beef 25% less fat, 30% less cholesterol and 27% less sodium
