Maybe you could strap it to the lure next time?

Poizun 01-27-2010 05:07 PM

Small word of advice...Take it or leave it..Not trying to start any trouble, but if considering entering a dog in a strong maiden series where dogs will easily break 23..if not run in the 22.60s zone..entering a dog who can run at best 23.20 in my opinion is a silly move. Outside of the fact, you get to see your dog race and you have to be in it to win it...yes.....Dogs get disheartened when having to chase dogs they have no chance at all of catching and it can actually bring negative repercusions down the track.

With that being said, if its just a dog you are looking at havign some fun with and do not really mind what happens, then by all means enter it in whatever you mind. Just be wary that entering dogs out of there grade, isnt just a case of "o well, that race was too hard, better luck next time", but more a case for the dogs head. Alot of the time, dogs have loads of ability but cant put it together on the track cuz of their "head".

Just food for thought tho..Hope the dog wins some races :)

coops 01-27-2010 05:50 PM

Poizun mate, If my dog can't run the times required to win any race, then the dog will never be entered. I know what times my dogs need to run at any track to be in with a chance. When I get to know my dogs abilities, then I will know whats to become of them. Whether they stay or they go, I will know what to do. At the moment Lady has shown me that their maybe something there and it takes time to get it out of her. As for my other dog Bess, I'm still looking for something from her, but because of injuries she hasn't had much of a go.
If any of these dogs race I will let you know on this forum.

Im sure you do know your dogs and my comment was a mere observation of watching other feature races with trainers entering there dogs and getting beaten 20 lengths out of site.....

Hopefully for you, that all come good...=) and me if i get on the punt lol

i actually agree with poizun

the last couple of big maidens in nsw winners have been won by lochinvar marlow and magic spirite, both have the abilty to make the top grade, looking at the dogs who made the finals and finished behind them you see alot of dogs who have gone on and won plenty of races since some even running in group events

when there is 10k on the line for a maiden race alot of dogs are held back and the smart trainers like azzopardi, mackay, andy lord, sultana's etc will always have some jet set for it, throw in the wheelers dogs and kevin gordon normally has a maiden saved for the big events and poizun is right dogs are running sub 22.60s even some of the jets going faster

in other words coops, we wana plunge first up so take her to golburn so we can clean the bookie out :D

INVISIBLEMAN 01-27-2010 09:50 PM

There is no doubt that there is a hell of a lot of sense in what Poizun says, in fact, I would say "I couldn't agree more". I was wondering what Coops and/or Morgan had said to motivate Poizun to offer this good advice. At a quick glance I noted Coops' light hearted reference to the Super Maiden Series and assumed that this was it. I don't think Coops was serious but it would be nice if Surfin Bird or whatever it is called "jumped out of the ground" in the next couple of weeks, so much so that Coops thought a start was justified but I don't think so. An easier maiden somewhere would be good for starters. Good luck everybody.

coops 01-27-2010 10:10 PM

just think guys, if lady can't get the times down to 22.50 over the 400 mtrs, what make you think she can't get the times down to 30.50 for the 535 mtrs, coz thats the distance for the Super maiden race.

coops

INVISIBLEMAN 01-27-2010 10:37 PM

Hey Coops I don't even know where the Super Maiden series is being run, still don't, in fact, I had never heard of it until today. However, what I do know is that the principle of what Poizun is talking about makes sense, that is, just as a general observation. Good luck with Lady, we want to see Lady knock HMT off the throne as best bitch in the litter (I'm sure Nick won't mind). I have made an assumption that Philbar is a dog, haven't got a clue but can't be bothered checking, I'm just giving the current title to HMT (for the time being).

long as lady gives us a return shot at the title im happy

INVISIBLEMAN 01-28-2010 09:33 AM

I am happy to see either have the title at any given time as long as they are both going extra well BUT what I am particularly looking forward to is the "trash talk" that should go on in the lead-up to the respective "bouts". Mundine and Green will be completely over-shadowed. Nick, you are going to be out-numbered (Coops, Lily and Morgan) delivering the "trash talk" but somehow I think you are going to be able to hold your own without too much trouble. This could be seen as a back-handed compliment but make no mistake it is a positive compliment, I love a bit of "trash talk", well maybe not when it is Mundine dishing it out. It is often another one of those cases when I have to leave the room to escape from the embarrassment.

coops 01-28-2010 10:22 AM

Super Maiden Qualifying trials 535M.

Held at Richmond. NSW.

coops

Morgan 01-28-2010 11:23 AM

If she isn't fast enough to be able to win any of the maiden races in what would be a slow time then i don't think there is any point in sending her there.

Although if she would be able to win if the race was run in a slow time then id think its worth a shot.

No point sending her there hoping 7 other dogs find trouble.

lilyflowerandroxy 01-28-2010 01:20 PM

Sorry Coops but I agree with the others lol it's a big ask of a young maiden just learning to race properly, it takes about 6 months to get her confidence up to where you want her to, without throwing her in a 'dreamer' race ;-) and having had her for only a short preparation, she wouldn't be ready for such a big step up to 535m in 3 weeks.

If I had a very good maiden that could break 22.60 or 31 secs at Richmond, I would give it a go in a rich maiden event but for anything less than the times run, I would suggest you aim for the country races or at least the lower class TAB tracks.
It can shatter a pup's confidence if thrown into a classy maiden field, you can be sure that these top trainers would have trialed their pups at least 10 times, half in full field trials, before they'd put their pups in a big race.

C'mon Coops, give Morgan an easy maiden win ;-) and Lady will love you all the more for the confidence boost.

xxx lol

coops 01-28-2010 01:42 PM

She'll be right on the night.LOL
I'm not going to race her on country tracks. Only the best for Lady.

I'm hoping she'll do alright in that race coz I'm looking at Easter cup maiden at wenty too.
If your not in it you can't win it.

coops

Morgan 01-28-2010 01:57 PM

Her main target will be the Golden Easter Egg.

coops 01-28-2010 01:59 PM

Yep Thats right I need those dollars to shout Lily dinner. LOL

Yeah she might have her first race in that, then off to the $250,000 Golden Easter Egg race.

coops 01-28-2010 02:23 PM

No I might give that one a miss. I think Lady might need a rest for a couple of days.

haha in that case ill be the mundine and lets get it on

cause no little country hick trainer ( coops) and his internet love (lily) nor the rookie owner (morgan) have a chance at taking the crown, hmt is the bitch

there is allready adversity in the camp, owner and internet lover are not agreeing with the trainer..pfffft danny green more like mundine vs a chump

just tie 1 hand behind my back so the crowd atleast gets a quick thrill for there entry price because it will still be over in round 1, tko win to "how many times"

:D:D:D:D:D

you happy with that INVISIBLEMAN :p

coops 01-28-2010 09:48 PM

Challenge time aye Nick. SB vs HMT. Race you for pink slips.
Lily can be starter and trip your dog when it comes out of boxes and Morgan can cheer his dog for being so far in front.

only problem tho coops ill be slipping sb a couple of meat pies before the race so by the time she gets to the home turn she will be spent and hmt will storm past and win by 5 running away

coops 01-28-2010 10:22 PM

cocky? i was actually being modest cause i really think she would win by 12 :p

Gippy 01-29-2010 11:07 AM

I really think that there is too many chiefs here and not enough indians, coops is shagging this cat, we're just watching!! so to speak!!! He will know what is best for the bitch, and Lily I think its probably better if you keep your relationship with coops purely physical as you wouldn't want that 10lt tub of caramel syrup that he has on order to go to waste, plus we are all looking fwd to the youtube clip of you both bathing in it!!!!:p:p:D:D

coops 01-29-2010 11:39 AM

Bloody ell Morgan, your diaries getting a workout just lately.

It started with the dog, now it's got imposters, spy's, love affairs, better dogs than lady, sick people, crazy people and It's all supposed to be a secret.

coops

Morgan 01-29-2010 11:44 AM

Yeah i know coops, she is a very popular little girl even if she cant run fast.

Ive heard this thread had something to do with the break ins at Flemington on Tuesday/Wednesday.

coops 01-29-2010 12:09 PM

Probably Hahahahaha. We might be world famous one day. We haven't heard from Noel in a while. He's probably shakin his head and saying to himself. "Those aussie's are mad bastards."

coops

coops 01-29-2010 08:19 PM

Well Lady's done it again. She ripped the tail feathers off Ole the cockatoo. Not her fault really. I took Ole out of his cage to let him have a run around and I forgot he was out. he followed me to the kennels and got too close to Lady and she never let the chance of grabbing Ole to go by. She only got a couple of tail feathers. Now Ole sits in his cage going crook. I just yelled out to him to shut up, and he told me to get stuffed. Bloody bird.

coops

YUTHAPINABOY 01-29-2010 11:42 PM

I'll tell you what Coops if Lady comes out and runs an absolutely blinding trial next time out (22.50 Richmond), there could be a sudden overwhelming demand for Sulphur Cresteds that is by people who have heard about your innovative training methods.

Morgan 01-29-2010 11:57 PM

Feeding her a bird will give her wings.

YUTHAPINABOY 01-30-2010 12:12 AM

Very good Morgan! But as I recall they were the tail feathers and we don't want her finishing at the "tail" of the field.

justin 02-01-2010 11:32 AM

how is lady goin coops have you tralied her again ?

coops 02-02-2010 10:30 AM
