COAST CUP FINAL WILL BE A BEAUTY

KNOCKA Norris and El Galo look set for a classic showdown for the final running of the Group 2 Gold Coast Cup (457m) next Wednesday. Both sensational sprinters won their heats of the Cup today in flying time. And then Knocka Norris came up with the coveted rails draw for the final.

Box draw for the Cup final next week is:

Knocka Norris (Elite State-Oriental Angel) had to wait until the last of the six heats to run the quickest when he went 25.56.

He scored by two and three-quarter lengths over Yikes with five and three-quarters to Silenzio in third. It was his fifth win from seven starts on the track.

El Galo (Where's Pedro-Roxy Reason), from the Seona Hood kennel, was having his first run on the Gold Coast track but scorched through his heat in 25.60. He scored by four and three-quarter lengths over Disorderly with a neck to Just spud in third. El Galo took his career figures to 23 wins from 39 starts. Dave Robartson, who early in the year sold El Galo interstate, produced his exciting pup Lots Of Moolah to win his Cup heat at only his eight race start.

Lots Of Moolah (Collision-New Guess) ran 25.65 tgo win by half a length over Bogie Blaze with two and a half lengths to Hi Ransom a great first-up third.

Tasmanian galloper Big Moose (Collide-Edan Rose) vindicated his connections decision to send him north with his Cup heat win in 25.73. He won by a length and three-quarters to Supreme Level with three and a quarter to Grampian in third. Big Moose has now also won 23 races.

Local youngster Jungle Green (Whisky Assassin-Must Command) won his heat in 25.97 for Greg Brennan. He scored by a head over Bearer Bond with a length and a quarter to Borat in third.
