Fighters don't generally pass on their characteristics, it depends on what type of fighter they are. If they fought due to injuries, then they're not really 'normal fighters', it'd be the trainer's fault for causing them to fight.
Myanimall's advice is sound, those are the common scenarios and things trainers will do to try to re educate a fighter. But it is very hard to eradicate bad habits like fighting due to being so competitive.
We've had a couple of fighters and tried every method to stop it occurring again, even a change of trainers, scenery, blinkers, different musclemen etc without luck, many years ago.

However there is one remedy suggested to me by an old timer years ago, that does seem to work in preventing fighters from re offending, I promised to keep it a secret lol so I can't say what the remedy is but it's so simple and easy and in no way bothers the dog at all.
I might want to start up a business one day curing fighters, you know! ;-) lol
