No excuses!!!! doesn't matter if he was having girlfriend troubles, he SHOULDN'T have left the poor dog in the car in the first place!!! If he actually cared about dogs at all, he would have taken the dog with him DESPITE being drunk and not in a good state of mind. Stop blaming it on alcohol and personal troubles! NO EXCUSES at all.

I do feel sorry for his family though, the shame they must be going through, they will have to live with the consequences as will he.
