There is a dog called GARDAM PRINCE that hails from down south in Mexico and Darren Mac trains him. 12 months ago ppl where putting shit on this dog for winning all his races in the bush and not on the city tracks. mr Macdonald knew what he was doing with this dog and placed him where he could win. There were a few big races that came up and Mr Mac chose the ones that the dog had the best chance of winning. he wasn't worried about all these group one races, he just plodded along winning plenty of others without stressing the dog. The dog now has an incredible winning record to his name and he has won over 250K. Not bad for a dog that has won only a couple of group one races.
The point is why do everyone bag a dog or it's trainer for not putting his/her dog against dogs that could be better only to ruin either one of those dogs spirits by beating it. A great trainer will always try and place his dog where he/she thinks it can win. IMO Mr Mac is one of the best thinking trainers in Australia. And when I grow up, I want to be just like him.
