A certain amount of price can be traced back to brand names, however in large it is due to the different chemical that is used to treat/ kill the worms.

It is recommended by some that you change up the worming tablets that you use as like other things what may be effective for a while may not continue to be effective over the long term.

I imagine that the $1 tablets you use are the closasole tablets, I have heard conflicting opinions on the quality of these (most come from reps of more expensive products), however if you are having a problem with worms then it might be worth investing in a more expensive tablet and seeing if you get a different result.

btw what type of meat are you feeding? the worms have to be getting into your dogs someway if they have them? also they normally are excreted when they are dead so I would imagine you would really see them soon after you have given the worming tablets.
