Greyhound World Cup Challenge
The below I have posted on a different forum with a large base so there will be large interest there I am guessing. Should be a few interested parties here maybe?
So...punting is fun? Sure is. Some people do it as a living (few), some people do it for fun, some for a mixture. One of the key elements of punting though, is that everyone loves to watch the race unfold. Very few punters will put bets on and just let the results take care of themselves. Why? Action!!
So, betting on dogs is awesome. I love it. But I am always looking for something exciting to do to create more action and I thought of a possible dog competition that I think would be awesome and give a lot of forum members the chance to compete against each other and possibly win some cash.
Format : Round Robin/Knockout Tournament
Identical to an actual world cup. Players would compete verse each other in a round robin stage and based on amount of entries, top 2 would advance to knockout stage (or appropriate amount). If not enough players for separate pools, will make it one simple league, with a knock-out stage like the football. This will be entirely based on entries involved.
Point System : Win/Loss/Draw/Bonus Points
Players will verse each other in daily battles to secure points for the win against their opponent. Each player must select 10 dogs they wish to nominate to earn points for their match. Only TAB meetings in Australia will be accepted.
The following points will be awarded to players for their dog selections:
Dog wins - 5
Dog 2nd - 3
Dog 3rd - 1
Multiplier - Players can select ANY dog. This means, it can be $1.20 or $20. So to encourage players to "take on" dogs and showcase their selecting ability, any dog that wins or runs a place that is over an average of $8 combined with ST AND NSW tabs, gets points doubled.
i.e. You select a dog which runs second, and it was an $8.90 shot on Supertab and a $7.90 on NSW. That means averaged out over the two totes it would be paying $8.40 which means it falls into the "multiplier zone", so instead of earning 3 points for second you would earn 6 points.
Doing this enables players who may be behind to still catch up if their "long shot" selection prevails or runs a good race.
The following points are allocated in the ROUND ROBIN or LEAGUE round to determine ladder results.
Win - 3
Draw - 2
Loss - 1
Bonus Points
Defeat your opponent by more than 15pts or more - 1pt
Defeat your opponent by more than 25pts or more - 2pt
Pick 7 winners or more - 1pt
Not miss a first 3 result in all 10 races - 1pt
Prizes
Lets say entry was $50 for the use of example, a tournament with 16 starts would enable a prize pool of $800. The pool will be divided as below:
Winner - 50%
Runner up - 30%
Semi Finalists - 10%
The above is completely flexible based on entries and input.
All monies can be provided to a forum moderator who has been here for a long time and multiple people can vouch for and who doesn't mind holding it
Ok, lets hear. Flames? or like it? I personally love it, but then again I am a dog addict who loves action.
