A friend emailed me yesterday a list of the supposed best Aussie horses of the decade. Must have read it in the Bris Courier I think. In order they are:

Makybe Diva
Lohnro
Takeover Target
Northerly
Sunline
Apache Cat
Elvstroem
Dance Hero
Falvelon
Efficient

I don't know what were the criteria, apart from "Best Horses" but although I think it is a pretty good list, I am not in total agreement. I have to admit that my knowledge of horse racing is not all that strong, however, for example, I would have thought Choisir was, based on his performances just before leaving Australia and in England, much closer to being the best sprinter in the world than Efficient was to being the best stayer in the world when at his peak. Choisir was of course for a good while a "could be, might be" in Australia but I do remember his very good performances in his final preparation or was it two, in Australia and of course his achievements in England were very special. I expect interested people on this site will have many other views.
