Hi,
You take the naming paper to the vet to get the vaccination and signature.
If the dog has already been marked on the back of the form (ie drawing already made on the picture of greyhound) by a "marking official", then that's all you need to do, mail the papers to GRNSW.
It'll take a couple weeks to a few weeks for the name to be selected and then the official registration paper will then be processed and mailed back to you.
The dog is now officially named. But the paper won't come with a weight card, and you need one to be able to race the dog.
So you check with a steward at your closest racetrack, find out if there is a steward who has some spare weight cards and can do the job.
And once they issue you with a weight card, your dog is ready to nominate!
It didn't used to be that way previously, weight cards always came with the registration papers but with the new rule changes and all that, they've recently bought in the rule (I think it was 1 or 2 years ago?) that says the dog has to be identified THREE TIMES... once at earbranding, once to get the naming done and the final time after it's been named. Bit silly isn't it!
