Champion filly Samantha Miss fetched almost $4 million at the Inglis Australian Easter Broodmare Sale in Sydney on Thursday.
Knocked down media magnate John Singleton through his Magic Millions company acting as agent, the sidelined star went through the sale ring for $3.85 million.
It is expected Samantha Miss will be retired immediately to Singleton’s Strawberry Hill breeding farm.
Dubbed the “princess of the turf” during frenzied bidding, the three-time Group I winner was consigned by her owner Ron Croghan.
Croghan paid $1.5 million for Samantha Miss as a yearling. Her racetrack earnings were close to $1.8 million before her career was interrupted because of injury.
Bidding on the three-year-old started at $1 million.
