G'day Noel, I,ve got 2 dogs being broken in, when I pick them up this week they will go for a spell for around 2-3 weeks depending on soreness etc. The guy who I want to train the dogs is a one man operation with about 15 or so dogs in work who just hasn't got the time at the moment to prepare young dogs and see if they have what it takes. A Pre-Trainer cleans the pups up, puts them into work, trials them at several different tracks, introduces them to field trials etc and I suppose hands over to the trainer or hands back to the owner a greyhound that is ready to race or ready to be given away as a pet!!! Now I have never used anyone to do this work, I have done myself or the trainer has done it, however this time its necessary!
Most trainers ask for a weekly payment initially with young dogs ( which could be considered the pre-training period anyway) and when decision time comes on there future its either 50-50( or whatever you agree on with the trainer) with the trainer or sorry they are not up to it! Hope this explains it mate!
